Ashley Benson and James Franco did a parody of the video with Justin Bieber, “Boyfriend” and it became viral in January this year. Justin would not have been happy with parody and at the time, the end of his relationship with Selena Gomez was approaching, which caused many to believe that Benson was playing Selena, since Franco obviously was playing Bieber.
In an interview with Seventeen Magazine April 2013, Ashley commented on the matter. Check out:
“I have not heard of Selena [about the parody of" Boyfriend "]! People thought I was playing it, but I was just doing what the girl did in the video. There was a hint for her.
But I heard from Justin. He was not happy. Justin is like my brother since he and my ex [Ryan Good] we stayed close. Whenever you go through a breakup, friends get defensive. But all is well in that area now. “
Benson is no stranger to controversy, as her role in the movie Spring Breakers is sexier — and darker — than anything she’s ever done before. “We all came from a Disney background, and this was different from anything we’ve done,” she says of costars Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens. “But we wanted to prove that we’re not just girls who play happy parts. It was such a crazy experience and it was character-building. I’m so proud of all of us. I’m really, really excited for everybody to see it.”
